Week 3 Post 1 Revision

Computers store data on hard drives and removable drives using a hierarchical system. The hierarchical system consists of the File System which is the overall structure that a disk drive uses to store, retrieve, and organize data. Following the File System is the Directories/Folders, they act as containers for files and other directories. Directories can be nested within each other to create subdirectories. Lastly is the Files themselves, a file can contain any type of data and is stored in a directory.  My current backup plan was put in place after losing countless personal files after I had them all stored locally on my cellphone and said cellphone was dropped in the ocean. I have 3 copies of any and all-important information i.e., bank statements, military record, medical documents, and any documents pertaining to anything currently being financed just to name a few. Three copies on my cellphone which is backed up to the cloud and can be remotely wiped thanks to AVG antivi...

Week Two Discussion Revision

YouTube, until recently I used this app almost every day since I was 12. Only recently have I started using TikTok more but that neither here nor there. I have learned more on these two apps than I have on any other app, news channels and (depending on the topic) have learned more on these two apps than was ever taught to me in school. I will just be focusing on YouTube for now. YouTube, a giant in the realm of online video-sharing platforms, has reshaped the way we consume and share content since its creation in 2005. Today, it stands to show the power of user-generated content, offering a vast and continually evolving library that caters to a broad spectrum of interests. YouTube’s greatest strength lies in its diversity. From educational content and how-to tutorials to music videos and vlogs, from film trailers to cooking shows. This democratization of content creation has allowed millions of voices to be heard, fostering a global community that transcends international boundaries. T...

My recommendation for a work only laptop for 3500 or under is the XPS laptop by Dell featured here >XPS 15 Laptop: Dell XPS Laptop Computers | Dell USALinks to an external site. With the 2TB SSD and 32GB of ram options selected this laptop would use the $3200 of the $3500 budget allotted. With the remaining $300, I would suggest investing in an extended warranty or accident protection plan. These plans can cover unexpected repairs and, depending on the terms, even accidental damage. Part of the remaining budget can be spent on the required Microsoft 365 business basic which is currently $72 dollars annually. This laptop configuration looks impressive and should comfortably meet the needs of the new employee who will be supporting the ABC project.   Processor: 13th Generation Intel® Core™ i9-13900H Processor (14-Core, 24MB Cache, up to 5.4 GHz) The 13th Generation Intel® Core™ i9-13900H Processor with 14 cores is high-end and will perform excellently in multitasking and dem...

About Me

Hello everyone, My name is Zach, I was a 0231 Intelligence Specialist for the United States Marine Corps before I was medically retired. I am currently pursuing my BS in Information Technology, and this will be my first class and blog pertaining to the study. I have finally finished my General Education Requirements and my General Education Competencies and can finally focus on my Major course requirements. The reason I chose this as my major was because it interested me and in hopes of finding a stay-at-home career so that I can better pursue and build upon current interests and hobbies I otherwise wouldn't have time for. I've always enjoyed learning how to build computers and servers and how to maximize performance on both. I am hoping to build on that foundation of knowledge with what I will learn in this class and in setting up this blog. Words can hardly express how excited I am to start learning more about Technology and I look forward to interacting and learning with ev...
